JDM Vehicle Insurance

From Skylines to Kei trucks, coverage built for how JDM owners actually drive and own these cars.

Certain JDM models come up in nearly every conversation we have with import owners — cars (and trucks) with real cult followings, real valuation quirks, and real insurance needs that a generic policy just isn't built to handle. Here's how we think about coverage for the JDM legends we're asked about most.

Nissan Skyline (GT-R and beyond)

The Skyline GT-R is probably the single most requested JDM import we insure — R32, R33, and R34 generations all come through our office regularly, ranging from stock survivors to heavily built track cars. Valuations vary enormously by generation, trim, and modification level, which makes agreed value coverage essentially non-negotiable if you want a claim settlement that actually reflects your car.

We also see plenty of non-GT-R Skylines (GTS-T and similar), which tend to be more affordable to insure but still benefit from the same agreed value approach given thin US comp data.

Toyota Supra and Chaser / Mark II

The A80 Supra needs little introduction, and JDM-spec examples (often with the 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo) are frequent import clients for us. The Toyota Chaser and Mark II — sedans that share much of the Supra's mechanical DNA in a more understated body — have built a dedicated following of their own, particularly among drift and grip enthusiasts.

Both models often arrive with meaningful modifications, so we typically pair coverage here with our modified/collector endorsement in addition to agreed value.

Kei trucks and Kei cars

Kei-class vehicles (Honda Acty, Suzuki Carry, Daihatsu Hijet, and similar) have exploded in popularity for their utility, efficiency, and sheer charm. Arizona generally allows Kei vehicle registration, though classification (full registration vs. off-highway/low-speed-vehicle status) can affect how they're insured — we'll confirm your vehicle's specific registration status before quoting.

Whether yours is a farm-and-property workhorse or a show-and-cruise piece, we structure coverage around actual use rather than a one-size-fits-all Kei policy.

Land Cruiser and other grey-market SUVs

JDM and grey-market Land Cruisers (particularly earlier chassis not originally sold in the US, or JDM-spec trims with different equipment than their US counterparts) are another regular request. These often carry meaningful agreed values given collector demand, and owners frequently use them as genuine daily drivers or overlanding vehicles — both of which we can accommodate.

This isn't an exhaustive list — it's just the models we're asked about most. If you've legally imported a JDM vehicle, tell us about it when you request a quote and we'll build coverage around your specific car.
