Modified & Collector Vehicle Coverage

Your build is unique. Your policy should reflect exactly what's in it.

A stock, factory-spec import is one thing to insure. A car that's been widened, turbo'd, re-tuned, and rebuilt inside and out over years of ownership is another thing entirely — and it deserves a policy that actually knows what's in it, not a generic 'vehicle' line item that assumes everything under the hood matches what left the factory.

Why modifications change the insurance conversation

Standard auto policies are built around factory-spec vehicles. The moment you add forced induction, aftermarket suspension, a widebody kit, or a full interior refresh, you've created a mismatch between what the policy assumes and what you actually own — and that mismatch shows up at the worst possible time: during a claim.

A modified vehicle policy through us is built around your actual build sheet, not a generic VIN lookup. That means the parts, labor, and design work you've put into the car are part of what's covered and part of what's reflected in your agreed value.

What we document for a modified build

We'll walk through your vehicle's modifications with you — engine and drivetrain work, suspension and wheel/tire packages, body and paint modifications, interior and electronics changes — and document them as part of your policy file. Receipts, build threads, dyno sheets, and shop invoices all help support both your coverage and your agreed value.

This isn't about nickel-and-diming every bolt-on. It's about making sure that if your car is damaged or totaled, the settlement reflects the car you actually have — not a stock version of it.

  • Engine, drivetrain, and forced-induction modifications
  • Suspension, brakes, and wheel/tire packages
  • Body kits, paint, wraps, and aero modifications
  • Interior, audio, and electronics upgrades

Collector-grade coverage for show cars and weekend drivers

Plenty of our clients aren't daily-driving their import — it's a show car, a weekend car, or a project that spends more time in the garage than on the road. We offer usage-based structures that reflect that, often at a more favorable rate than a daily-driver policy, provided the vehicle is garaged and used as described.

If your car is a daily driver instead, that's fine too — tell us honestly how you use it, and we'll match the policy structure to reality rather than forcing you into a mileage cap that doesn't fit your life.

Agreed value for a one-of-one build

A heavily modified car is often genuinely one-of-a-kind, which makes agreed value coverage even more important than it is for a stock import — there's no comparable sale to point to at all. We'll work with you (and, for higher-value builds, a third-party appraiser) to arrive at a figure that reflects the real time and money in the car.

Tell us what's actually in the car

The single biggest mistake modified-car owners make with insurance is under-reporting their build to keep premiums low. That approach can leave you badly underinsured exactly when you need coverage most — talk to us honestly about your build and we'll find the right coverage for it.

Questions

Frequently asked

For meaningful modifications — forced induction, suspension, wheels/tires, body kits, interior work, tuning — yes. Small cosmetic details usually don't need individual line items, but when in doubt, tell us and we'll advise.
